Tired of match puzzles? Try a twist

Tired of match puzzles? Try a twist

If you've played one swap-and-clear puzzle, you've played forty of them. I get the fatigue. But every so often a game changes one rule and the whole thing feels new again.

Glyph Gardens does this with rotation. Instead of swapping two tiles, you spin small clusters, which forces a completely different kind of planning. It took me a couple of boards to rewire my brain, and then I couldn't go back to the plain version.

What I look for in a puzzle game now isn't fancy graphics — it's whether the core mechanic makes me think in a new way. A single clever rule beats a hundred cosmetic themes.

If you're burned out, try one mechanic-first puzzler instead of another skinned clone. It might not stick, but when it does, it feels like discovering the genre all over again.
