Emberwild Oath

★★★★★ 4.6 Editor rating

Emberwild Oath is the kind of RPG that respects your thumbs. The turn-based combat is laid out so you can read the whole battlefield at a glance, and the touch targets are big enough that you won't fat-finger a spell. The writing surprised me — the companions have real personalities and the choices you make genuinely shift a few scenes.

Progression is slow in a good way. You feel each level, each new skill matters, and the game doesn't drown you in menus. I spent a few sessions just tweaking my party setup before a boss, which is exactly what I want from the genre.

There's a bit of grind in the middle act, but it never got unfair. If you like fantasy RPGs and you've been looking for one that works on a commute, this is an easy recommendation.
